Guest guest
Okay, I'm finally getting around to this. Mountain View Saravana Bhavan - Vegetarian Indian, maybe some vegan entrees They are located on El Camino, one block north of the Jiffy Lube on the east side of the street. Reccomend parking on street or neighborhood behind the restaurant. Don't be fooled by the crowd outside. We used to get in rather quickly despite the number of people waiting. Highly reccomend the Mixed Vegetable Parrotta (probably not vegan.) All the food is great and the Madras Coffee can be ordered without milk if you do find vegan offerings. Santa Cruz Zachary's, downtown Pacific Ave, Open Tues through Sunday, 7am - 2:30 pm This is an excellent place to get a Tofu Scramble. You can build your own scramble from all kinds of ingredients - mushrooms, spinach, cilantro, garlic, artichoke hearts, and more. Highly reccomend Miguel's Special Salsa (it's different every day but always tasty.) Get an extra serving though. They don't give you enough. The oatmeal molasses toast is vegan (as is the scramble and the potatoes.) I don't know about the other toasts. The staff is vegan-friendly though and will tell you if you ask. Aldo's at the Harbor This was the last place we expected to find a tofu scramble on the menu and we should have kept searching. Do not order the scramble here. It is scrambled eggs with tofu and it wasn't even very good. Blech! The eggs were not advertised on the menu and they were very unapologetic about it. The pigeons buzzing through the outdoor seating also did not lend to the atmosphere. That experience was just wrong in so many ways. That's all I have for now. Cheers, Matthew
