BAVRT is NOT a drop-in dinner event. If you have problems emailing

me, please use http://veginfo.com/contact/general

As always, you come under your own liability for all events.

Pass the word to your friends. This is not an exclusive net-folks

only event. This is not an activist group or singles event.

Note that if you plan to attend this dinner, you can order only

vegetarian dishes, even if the restaurant serves other stuff.

Bring cash to cover for what you eat, plus tax and tip.

If you have suggestions for future sites, please e-mail them to

. If you want to volunteer host a BAVRT dinner,

please let me know!!

#1) BAVRT - What is involved in hosting a dinner?

http://www.veginfo.com/bavrt/hosting.html

Well folks, this month's BAVRT mailing is late. Primary reason

for this delay was lack of host for this month's dinner.

Seriously considered canceling this month's BAVRT dinner. Cheryl

heard about this sorry state and volunteered. Note that she has

volunteered and hosted a BAVRT dinner before this also.

BAVRT has lots of members. Please consider volunteering at least

once. Of course, you may volunteer more than once! The simple steps

involved in hosting a BAVRT dinner is given in the html link above.

If you wish to volunteer to host a dinner, whether it is next

month or any time next year, please let me know. The continued

existence of BAVRT depends on folks like you volunteering to

host a dinner. It is simple and it can be fun.

#2) This month's trek

As already mentioned, Cheryl graciously agreed to host this

month's dinner. Without her volunteer help, we would not be

having a BAVRT dinner this month.

Our host chose King of Siam restaurant in Soquel for this month's

dinner. Soquel is next door to Santa Cruz. This restaurant has

a special vegetarian menu and is vegan friendly. After all, there

are quite a lot of vegans in that area. This restaurant has been

around for years and is extremely popular with the locals. Entrees

are in the range of $6.95 to $7.95.

Our host tells me that the restaurant is " rather close to the

beaches and shops of Capitola, and the stylish, yet reasonable,

antique stores of Soquel, so people might want to make a day of it. "

Please RSVP as soon as possible.

#3) Last month's trek

Winnie hosted last month's dinner at Hulu House in San Francisco.

As you may recall, that was BAVRT's 100th restaurant outing.

We had 29 people who showed up and 13 cancellations. Everybody

who RSVPed showed up - that is great!

Most people gave exceptionally high rating for the food.

The parking around the restaurant is not hard by SF standards.

They served one dish in an authentic fashion in a banana leaf.

The fried rice was served in a hollowed out pineapple (it would

have been nicer, if they did not put fake meat in fried rice).

One very strange thing was that they did not give us any serving

spoons. Since then, heard that they have corrected this situation.

Overall dinner was exceptional, and everybody had a good time.

After dinner, folks went to different Halloween parties, other

events or stayed back talking...
