I wrote to them and got the same response. I am glad they at least apologized

for the title mix up (although I bet they never apologized on air) but they

gave such a lame answer regarding the fact that they featured only one very

anti vegan doctor. By the way, they used that same doctor in another piece

about diets saying the same exact thing. Once again she was saying that meat

is good for you and there are nutrients in meat that we all need to be

healthy. Why do they keep using this same uninformed doctor? Oh well, maybe

our emails will help for any future broadcasts.

I wrote to KRON 4 a couple weeks ago about their segment

on " vegan diets " . Here's what the producer said. At least

he was nice and admitted they screwed up the title.

Erhhung,

Thank you for your email.

On behalf of our reporter and News You Choose segment producer, I'm very

sorry for the mix-up.

The question posed online for people to respond to was this: Vegetarian

Diets: Are they Healthy? We answered that question. However, the title

we put on the story was incorrect. KRON understands the difference

between Vegan and Vegetarian diets, but we mislabeled the story, and

I apologize.

As for the people we talked to, our managing editor felt the we addressed

both sides of the issue (healthy or not healthy). We feel we gave people

enough insight to make up their own mind on what is healthy and what

isn't, or at least a launching point for viewers to further investigate

for themselves.

Again, I apologize for the mislabeling of the story.

Regards,

To the producer of Kron 4 News at 9,

Your featured story on " vegan diets " demonstrated poor

reporting. First of all, you titled the piece " vegan

diets " , yet the diet that you described was not vegan

--it was vegetarian. Most people have heard of the

term vegetarianism, but many may not have heard of

vegan, and for you to inaccurately define the term

to the public is demonstrates inadequate research.

Furthermore, you chose to provide a very biased

opinion on the health merits of a vegetarian diet

from a doctor who has never even been a vegetarian.

How can a professional speak about the merits of a

diet when he himself is not vegetarian? At the very

least you need to offer the views from two opposing

sides, from noted experts such as John McDougal or

Neal Bernard. Please air a followup to your piece

with properly researched information.

Thank you,

Erhhung Yuan
