Protest the EPA's Chemical Tests on Animals

The EPA requires more chemical toxicity testing on animals than any

other federal agency. It stuffs chemicals down animals' throats,

injects them into their stomachs, burns them into their skin and forces

them to inhale massive amounts of toxic aerosols.  The EPA has done

almost nothing to develop more accurate, non-animal tests and resists

using the non-animal tests currently available.  Amazingly, the EPA

lags far behind private industry in reducing the number of animals used

for toxicity tests.  More animals are used in toxicity tests in the

U.S. than in any other country. Elsewhere, the numbers of animals used

for these sorts of tests is declining, while in the U.S. it is

increasing

Please join In Defense of Animals for a protest of the EPA’s use of

cruel chemical tests on animals:

When:       Tuesday, December 10, 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m.

Where:     EPA Region 9 Office, at 75 Hawthorne Street in San

Francisco, CA

We’ll have banners, signs and flyers there – just bring your voice!

If you are unable to make it to the protest, please still take a moment

to write to the EPA.  Tell Administrator Whitman to put a stop to the

EPA's wide-scale animal testing programs and start utilizing the fully

validated alternatives that are widely in use throughout other

countries:

The Hon. Christine Whitman, Administrator

Environmental Protection Agency

1200 Pennsylvania Ave., NW

Washington, DC  20460

Fax: 202-501-1450

You can also write to your senators and congressional representatives.

For more informationon the EPA chemical testing program, please visit

Thank you for being a voice for the millions of animals poisoned in

needless tests!

If you are interested in attending or have any questions about the

protest, please contact Carla Brauer at 415-388-9641 x19, or email

carla.
