Guest guest
Linda, I'm still going with Pioneer to get my produce. Primarily because they drop it right on my doorstep. I am interested in the olive oil, but that's a long way to go for one item. I will save up my purchases, but that might take a while. The other thing I could use is nuts and seeds, will those be available? Nick Nuts and seeds will certainly be considered, once the membership is up. :-) : Tue, 8 Oct 2002 22:52:25 EDT crlarksong Re: Re: RawSeattle Co-op News Hi everyone. I have signed up for the coop. The computer will not let me place an order though. I missed the expiration date and it is not yet set up for future orders. -------------------- Try again Cindy. Remember everybody, you must click "save" on the order before you get out of it, or it won't record it. Also, it doesn't show you have signed up. Give me a call at home later if you want to go through it together. :-) Linda Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. Guest guest
Hi Tammy, I love to help support things that I get so much pleasure from. I had actually put you down as our website of the month a number of months ago and I have mentioned it at our team meetings a number of times. So, yes, I appreciate what you're saying and I appreciate that you let us promote our events with you. Take Care, P.S. We were talking about putting a camping trip together at some point. I have been so focused on holiday stuff, I think I may have forgotten about it. Are you still interested in combining camps? If so, let me know and I'll get a feel for what people think. I know I'd like to line something up.
Guest guest
B " H In response to the possibility of exporting durian to Israel: While many people are health conscious here, there aren't as many health conscious people as in the West per capita. Israelis tend to be conservative. They'll eat healthy if it tastes good, because the country is heavily under the influence of American advertising and has developed Western tastes- sickly sweet. If a food smells bad, as durian is purported to, it'll probably go over like a lead balloon here, no matter what the health benefits. Just my 2 agorot. Guest guest
I realize this site is primarily for vegetarian crockpot recipes, but if someone is looking this far, they must be getting a glimpse of the " light. " I cannot believe the number of people who are totally unaware of the animal abuse issue, and think that vegetarian/vegan lifestyles are just for health reasons. (I always say, " Yeah, the health of the animal population! " ) So, thank you Marilyn for touching on the subject, and for those of you who want to see the real world, check out the PETA site. One other thing - I was a hard-core butter user! That, cheese and mayonnaise were my stumbling blocks to being a vegan. Well, I haven't figured out the latter two, but please try Earth Balance as a butter replacement. You know how you were saying that the cheeses don't taste good by themselves - well, you can taste this butter (non-GMO, too) replacement straight up and it tastes like butter. Mostly in health food sections or stores, look for a yellow and red tub. BFN
Guest guest
No problem, BFN! I am only just " realizing " all this myself--after KNOWING it in my head for over 20 years! The " Uncheese Cookbook " by Joanne Stepaniak is great for providing alternatives to all sorts of cheeses. I understand there's a NEW Uncheese cookbook out by her now too, but I haven't seen it. Any good vegan cookbook will give recipes for alternatives to butter (try the millet butter--it's great!). There are lots of mayo substitutes out there too, commercial and in cookbooks. ANY dairy product you can think of has a healthy alternative. BTW--I lost ALL respect for PETA when they ran a series of sexually suggestive billboards using Santa Claus, during the Christmas season this past year! They also are being questioned as to their financial dealings right now. But there are still lots of wonderful animal rights groups out there who do deserve our support, like Farm Sanctuary in NY.
