Guest guest
Dear Friends, When we started this group last October, we do not envision that it would grow so big so quickly. Within 14 months, we have over 650 members. We are happy to see that SFBAVeg has filled a need within the community. It has personally enriched our lives and made us feel more connected to the veg*n community, which is a sentiment often expressed to us by others. As our community has grown larger, there has been more interest in discussions beyond the scope of what we intended SFBAVeg to be. Because of the format of SFBAVeg -- one list for all discussions, it is necessary to keep discussions focused. So, we have decided to create a web-based discussion forum (bulletin board) for the local SFBAVeg community. Click on over to http://www.generationv.org/forum and check it out. Right now we have things split as follows - - Veggie Discussion - Animal Right and Welfare - Activism Discussion - General Debate - News and Announcements - SFBAVEG Event planning - Reviews - Archives - Site communication Pros: People can more easily pick and choose what they want to read Sign up to be notified of new posts to topics your interested in. Cons: You do have to re-register to post, but it's quite a painless process Messages only available online. We've been wanting to do this for a long time as we've felt that there should be a place for more in-depth discussion without filling peoples email box. It also gives local people the chance to talk more openly with others on non-veggie topics. If it works out, we see the SFBAVeg mailing list being used more for events and announcements, and the genV forum for all the discussions. Please note: the SFBAVeg mailing list on is not going away. We are just conducting a trial to evaluate a new forum format to see if it will work for us. If successful, we'll expand the features available. So, if you are interested in being part of the trial of the new forum, please visit the forum and check it out! http://www.generationv.org/forum Please feel free to send us any comments or suggestions. Enjoy, Tammy & Chris Your (volunteer) List Admins
