Guest guest
Saturday, December 21 A Reggae Tribute to DAVID NADEL: CARIBBEAN ALLSTARS with Guest MC ASHEBA Doors at 9:00 p.m.; Show at 9:30 p.m. $12. This is a night for " Remembering David Nadel, " the late visionary creator of Ashkenaz on the sixth anniversary of his death. Nadel believed that dancing was a route to world peace where differences disappeared on the dance floor as people united in a common musical bonding experience. His club, from its Balkan-oriented beginnings, to its presentation of music from nearly every imaginable culture, was -- and continues to be -- the living extension of Nadel's concept. This year reggae and other Caribbean styles are the modes of celebrating the life David Nadel, performed by the Caribbean All Stars, pioneers in Bay Area reggae scene and long-time favorites at Ashkenaz. They not only play Jamaican reggae with a traditional electric bass-drums-guitars- keyboards lineup, but add steel drums to bring in South Caribbean calypso and soca styles of Trinidad and Tobago. Asheba (who presents her Caribbean children's program on Sunday, Dec.22) is guest MC. There will be an exhibit of art related to David and Ashkenaz in the Back Studio. http://www.ashkenaz.com/dec2002list.htm he's the person who started Ashkenaz, and if you notice, this place DOES NOT SERVE MEAT! sunny ===== signature: FAQ on vegetarian resources SFBAVeg/ http://www.vegdining.com http://www.sfvs.org Living Foods: SFLivingFoods/ due to my high amount of emails, I am unable to answer everyone's emails on vegetarian questions.
