Guest guest
I have found a lot of vegetarian foods and products at Asian markets and grocery stores like 99 Ranch Store in El Cerrito. Although, I recommend checking expiration dates and ingredients closely. Some products may require asking a clerk for a translation. Barbara from Berkeley SFBAVeg wrote:*Got Questions? I'm interested in aduzki bean paste in particular, but I want other vegan fillings too. Thanks! " what that means is that it thatrs to hold on to fat, as it feels that it will need that to protect your vitals, and as an emergency source of fuel when you run out of muscle. you will have a lot of trouble maintaining muscle mass on the amount of calories you are currently consuming. 1600 calories/day is a little iffy for someone as tall as you are, but i might agree with 1800 or so; you have to play with what works for you. but what you are eating now is DEFINITELY not enough. the smartest way to eat is to take that 1800-2000 calories you should be eating and break it up into 5-6 small meals, which should be eaten about every 3 hours. this keeps your metabolism steady, and believe it or not, helps your body to burn fat even while you are eating, as there won't be any dips in metabolism during the day. it will take some time for your system to adjust to a higher calorie intake, as i said, so please go into this slowly. you should definitely give it a shot, though; i guarantee that you will see results and be a lot healthier. pilates is a good thing, but it is really not a substitute for weight training. try to incorporate 2 non-consecutive days where you do some weight bearing exercise. it's very good for your bones, as well, so that should help with your condition. you might like to try one day of upper-body exercises, and one day of lower-body exercises, with some abdominal and lower-back exercises on each day. you may want to try cycling; it's easier on the joints. i think i mentioned before that there's a bike that you can pedal with your arms as well, and this is also a viable source of cardio. rowing would be good for your back; just remember to keep your back straight and squeeze your shoulder blades at the top of the moevement. the most important thing is that you vary your routine-- your body gets bored when it does the same thing all the time, so what worked at first may not work after a while unless you make some sort of a change to the routine. just a note about me so you know where i'm coming from-- i've been a personal trainer for over 12 years, and i also have a lot of education in nutrition, massage, and so on. my brother is actually very big in the fitness industry, and has a website with a lot of great information on it (it's geared towards women, but a lot of it applies to men as well); you might want to read some of his articles: www.highnrg.com please let me know if you have any more questions. melody http://www.melodysmusic.net
