Happy (Almost) New Year, Bay Area Veggies!

The Bay Area Veg Fair is now just one month away, a perfect time to announce

our third and final fun(d)raising dinner. Thanks to all who have attended

the previous dinners; you have greatly assisted the Veg Fair Committee in

raising needed funds to keep the big event FREE and OPEN to the public!

Event: Bay Area Veg Fair Fundraising Dinner

Sunday, January 19, 2003 (Monday is a holiday)

Time: 5:00 p.m.

Location: Di Lac Cuisine, 1644 E. Capitol Expressway, San Jose, CA 95121 (SE

corner of E. Capitol Exp. and Silver Creek Rd.)

This final dinner promises to be our most fun and exciting. It will be

hosted by Di Lac Cuisine, http://www.dilac.com/, of San Jose. Di Lac is a

beautiful, spacious, airy and bright Vegan restaurant that is well worth

checking out if you have never done so, and deserving of a return trip if

you have. This is a dinner/event you won't want to miss.

In addition to the delicious menu (see below) and our usual fun and games,

we will be debuting the 2003 Veg Fair T-shirt (free to VF volunteers) at the

dinner, as well as coordinating one final " publicity push " with the

distribution of postcards, flyers, and posters. If you are able to assist

with Veg Fair publicity, please plan on attending this event.

Di Lac's owners, Tina and TIm, are very excited to be hosting our Countdown

Dinner once again. They have planned the following delightful, family style

menu for us:

Appetizer: Steamed Veggie Pork Bun

Soup: Wonton

Entreés:

1. Curried Veggie Chicken

2. Eggplant w/ Sweet Basil

3. Soft Tofu w/ Black Bean Sauce (a special non-menu dish with

shredded mushrooms, clear noodles, tomatoes, and Chinese celery)

4. Stir-fired Mixed Veggie Combo

(All of the above served with Brown Rice)

Dessert: Sweet Ginger Tofu Pudding

Beverage: Jasmine Tea

Reservations are required. The cost for all this is just $18 per person

(prepaid) or $20 at the door (cash only; space permitting). Payment can be

made via check or money order. You may reserve your spot by emailing

[joeconnelly]. Payment should be mailed to Veg Fair/VegNews,

PO Box 320130, San Francisco, CA 94132 within one week of reservation.

Please reserve early, we don't want you to miss out on a fun evening!
