Guest guest
Hi SFBAVeg'ers, As you know, there is a dedicated group of volunteers putting together VegFair.. I'm writing to solicit your opinion as to whether SFBAVeg should have a presence at VegFair. I'd like to propose that our booth not just " give away " lots of paper, or " sell " stuff, but instead capitalize on the estimated 6000 veggie-friendly folks who will be present by engaging them in a pro-animal letter-writing activity. As the sponsor of this letter-writing activity, we would select a few issues, provide short sample letters, and writing materials to VegFair attendees to produce a hand-written letter on site (This is a key component -- how many times have you taken home literature with the good intentions to do it... but somehow it doesn't get done?) VegFair is a wonderful opportunity to " sell " people on the idea to " do the write thing " and write a letter for the animals! We tried this at the Fund for Animals party earlier this month and it went well. We asked folks to write letters to the CEO of Whole Foods to stop selling factory farmed ducks from Grimaud Farms (a VIVA campaign). To attempt this on a larger scale event like VegFair, however, means we will need to rent booth space & pay for materials. If there is sufficient interest and support from the SFBAVeg community, let me know! Alternatively, if you think this is not a good idea, let me know that, too. Please feel free to reply back to the list with your comments.
