>Hi all - this is a psa to spread the word on a great new place... I tried it

last night for the first time.

>

>Priced a little above average, but understandble due to the all-organic nature

of the food, Minako Organic on Mission Street near 17th is f*cking great. Expect

a slow 2 hour dinner, and perhaps a little wait if busy.

>

>They have a full vegan menu, as well as free range chicken and seafood. The

vegan stuff is all I tried, and um, " boo-ya " .

>

>I don't want to delve into the 9 dishes we had, but it included soup,

potstickers, dessert, and a smattering of great rolls. Very creative

presentation, excellent combinations of food, including VEGAN UNAGI (EEL) MADE

FROM POTATO. (!)

>

>Minako compares only to Cha-ya in Berkeley, but differs in that it is not 100%

vegan, nor is the food as traditionally Japanese- a tad more Californian. A

mom-daughter team owns it, and the daughter who served us was super friendly.

>

>They play rad music too- not your typical japanese restaurant music - ac/dc was

blaring from the kitchen in the most comforting way. Lots of other

rock/modernrock too. The fried banana desert kicked ass, as did the avacodo

tempura roll.

>

>i was stoned, so my enjoyment was a little amplified, however this place

deserves some positive word of mouth.

>

>The last thing that I can add is that its closed Tuesday, and only open for

dinner.

>

>cheers - i'm their new biggest fan.

>This is Sunny's personal review of this restaurant:

>

>One reason it's always full house, cause 2 to 3 hour dinners are very common.

My dinners are 3 hours long cause I come in large groups of 8 or more (don't

come in a big group!)

>

>Mom and daughter can make more money if they speed the service.

>

>I love their food, but can't stand the LOOOOONG meals and LOUD music,

>but hey, the other customers don't seem to mind.

>

>I'm glad they're making it. I know they are trying really hard
