Meeting tomorrow evening in SF to discuss proposed animal research facility

I just learned of an important hearing taking place tomorrow,

Wednesday, Jan 8, to discuss a proposed research facility to be built

at the current site of the Veteran's Administration Hospital at Fort

Miley in SF's Presidio. The facility would be built through the

Northern California Institute for Research and Education

http://www.ncire.org/corefacilities.html, which plans to use mice for

transgenic analysis and perhaps use other species as well.

 

Supervisor Jake McGoldrick is holding a hearing to allow the

Veteran's Administration to present its proposal and to solicit input

from neighbors concerning the VA's proposal.

 

The meeting will be at:

WHERE: Presidio Middle School Auditorium, at the corner of Geary and

29th Ave. in the Richmond District of SF

WHEN: Wednesday January 8 at 7pm.
