Guest guest
Hi everyone, I wrote last week asking Berkeley residents to contact city council members and urge them to vote the " Sentient Beings Proclamation. " Well, we're optimistic that it will pass tonight, and I just wanted to invite anyone who is interested to join us at the Berkeley City Council meeting to celebration the passage. You can read the proclamation here http://www.ci.berkeley.ca.us/citycouncil/2003citycouncil/packet/011403/2003-01-1\ 4%20Item%2025.pdf I also encourage everyone to thank Dona Spring for putting this on the agenda and being such a devoted friend to non-human animals. And if it passes, I also encourage us all to write letters to other members on the council thanking them. The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. and is at 2180 Milvia Street, Berkeley. For the animals, Colleen --------------------- " Don't do nothing because you can't do everything. Do Something. Anything. " ~Sasha " As long as people will shed the blood of innocent creatures there can be no peace, no liberty, no harmony between people. Slaughter and justice cannot dwell together. " ~Isaac Bashevis Singer " The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans anymore than black people were made for whites or women for men. " ~Alice Walker " Nonviolence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages.
