Happy VegFair Eve!

The big day is upon us: 11 speakers, 5 chefs, 80 vendors, 100 volunteers ...

free cookies to the first 200 people. You have the opportunity to make Veg

Fair the Super Bowl of veg events. We've done the planning; we hope you

attend, and tag along a friend or two.

Over the last three days we've focused on the chefs and most of the

speakers. In a moment we'll introduce you to our two keynote speakers, Dr.

John McDougall and Howard Lyman.

But first, some more exciting news. T.V. station NBC-11 will air a special

preview report live from VegFair Saturday morning during the 7 o'clock news

hour. Be sure to tune in.

Tomorrow. 9 a.m.6 p.m. Santa Clara Convention Center, 5001 Great America

Parkway. http://www.vegfair.org. See you there!

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

John McDougall, M.D. - " The Hazards of High Protein Diets "

11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Physician, educator, and best-selling author John McDougall, M.D. is one of

the world¹s foremost proponents of a plant-based diet. Founder of The

McDougall Plan for healthy living, Dr. McDougall has been studying and

writing about the effects of nutrition on disease for over 20 years. He

believes that people should look and feel great, and enjoy optimal health

for a lifetime. Dr. McDougall has developed a nourishing, low-fat,

starch-based diet that not only promotes a broad range of dramatic and

lasting health benefits such as weight loss, but most importantly can also

reverse serious illness, such as heart disease, without drugs.

Dr. McDougall¹s national recognition as a nutrition expert earned him

a position in the Great Nutrition Debate 2000 presented by the USDA. He is

a board certified internist, author of ten national best-selling books,

publisher of a free monthly internet newsletter, host of the nationally

syndicated television show " McDougall, MD, " and Medical Director of the

McDougall Residential Program in Santa Rosa (California). For more on Dr.

McDougall, visit http://www.drmcdougall.com/

In his plenary address today, Dr. McDougall will eloquently and

intelligently expose today¹s " high protein " diets and explain why they are

not sustainable programs for either optimum health‹or weight loss.

Howard Lyman - " The Healthiest Diet on Earth "

1:30 p.m. 2:45 p.m.

Howard Lyman a/k/a " The Mad Cowboy, " gained international recognition as

Oprah Winfrey¹s co-defendant in the infamous " meat disparagement " trial

(http://www.madcowboy.com/). Howard is a former fourth generation rancher

and farmer who walked away from it all to advocate " not only for our health

but for our nation's sanity as well. " Howard is the past president of both

the International Vegetarian Union and EarthSave, as well as the author of

Mad Cowboy: Plain Truth from the Cattle Rancher Who Won't Eat Meat.

Howard¹s keynote address will relate the powerful personal story of

his transformation from unhealthy carnivore into one of the world¹s top

vegetarian advocates. If you have previously heard Howard speak, you know

how powerful his message is. If you haven't heard him, you are in for a real

treat. Come on out to VegFair and hear for yourself!
