PLEASE PASS THIS ON AND DISTRIBUTE WIDELY! :)

Cesar Chavez, President of the United Farm Workers of America, once wrote that

" kindness and compassion toward all living things is a mark of a civilized

society. Conversely, cruelty, whether it is directed against human beings or

against animals, is not the exclusive province of any one culture or community

of people. Racism, economic deprival, dog fighting and cock fighting,

bullfighting, and rodeos are cut from the same fabric: violence. Only when we

have become nonviolent towards all life will we have learned to live well

ourselves. "

In light of all the violence that surrounds us in our neighborhoods, in our

country, and in the world, please join us on February 28th for a very special

talk by Dr. Michael Greger entitled " Corporate Globalization: Trading Away Our

Right to Protect Animals. " Many of you will remember Dr. Greger's powerful talk

last year about Mad Cow Disease. We're so thrilled he's returning again to talk

about another important issue that effects all of us -- human and non-human

animals alike.

Dr. Michael Greger will share his research about how global trade agreements and

institutions such as GATT, NAFTA, and the World Trade Organization (WTO) have

affected animals. He will offer his understanding of what impact the proposed

Free Trade Area of the Americas (the expansion of NAFTA) will have on animals as

well. This is a riveting and thought-provoking talk, infused with vast

historical background and even humor, about what may be the greatest threat ever

posed to animal protection.

Whether you consider yourself a human rights activist, a feminist, an animal

activist, an environmentalist, a social justice activist -- or just someone who

wants to know more about the destructive consequences of corporate

globalization, please join us for this very special talk.
