MICHAEL GREGER, M.D. SATURDAY, FEB. 22ND, 6:30 - 8:30 Dr. Michael Greger returns from the latest International Congress on Vegetarian Nutrition with cutting edge information. He will review the latest research - highlighting the mounting importance of Omega 3 fatty acids and Vitamin B12 in the diet. He will also share his recommendations for maximizing health and longevity. He is the author of Heart Failure: Diary of a Third Year Medical Student and has contributed to a number of books on veganism and food safety issues. Dr. Greger is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Agriculture and the Tufts University School of Medicine. In addition to being a highly qualified and well-educated general practioner, Dr. Greger is also a nationally recognized speaker. He is intelligent, entertaining and his talks are always clever and well-researched. Vegetarian or not, you will benefit from this talk. SUNDAY, MARCH 22nd, WELCOME NED BUYUKMIHCI, President and Co-Founder of the Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights ? Is Veterinary Medicine Really Good for Animals? Ask an insider. Nedim (Ned) Buyukmihci is the President and co-founder of the Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights and has had extensive experience with large and small animals. He is a professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California School of Veterinary Medicine at Davis and has taught also at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Tennessee. Additionally, Dr. B. Is the co-founder and resident veterinarian of Animal Place, a farmed animal sanctuary and education center in Vacaville, CA. Dr. B. earned his V.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and did a post doctoral fellowship at Yale Medical School. He spent eleven years as the principal investigator studying diseases of the retina of the eye using cats, dogs, hamsters, and other animals, and his work has been published in 60 scientific publications. Then he investigated and instituted alternatives to harmful uses of non human animals, and has compiled and maintains an extensive database on alternatives to animal research.
