Carol Adams presents her “Sexual Politics of Meat” slide show

5pm, 2060 Valley Life Sciences Building

 

Carol Adams, author of the explosive “Sexual Politics of Meat: A

Feminist-Vegetarian Critical Theory” & several other books, speaks on

campus. Learn about how violence, animal rights, vegetarianism & racism

relate to each other at this very special event.

“Meet the Leaders of the Animal Rights Movement”

1:30pm, 100 Genetics and Plant Biology Building

 

Speakers include:

--Neal Barnard of Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine

--Steven Best, Assistant Professor and Chair of Philosophy, University of

Texas, El Paso

--Elliot Katz of In Defense of Animals

--Ingrid Newkirk of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PeTA)

--Lauren Ornelas of VIVA! USA

--Paul Shapiro of Compassion Over Killing

 

Find out what motivates these leaders to dedicate themselves to the animal

rights movement. Learn how animal rights relates to the law, environment,

science, medicine, philosphy and you! There will be an open question and

answer session.

Thank you for posting this, Christine. I am so confused! I had

registered but then learned that the conference is really geared

for young people only. I'm not young (well, except for my last

name). Would love to hear these speakers, but don't want to

intrude.

 

I sent an inquiry to the organizers. The reply indicated they would

suggest I attend events later in the year. So, are older people

welcome at this one?
