To clear up the confusion, Julie wrote:

 

Alice Walker is a wonderful author who lives in Mendocino county and has, at

least in the past, been a vegetarian. I'm not sure if she is still a

vegetarian. However, she is one of my favorite authors, so I felt compelled to

clear up the confusion around her name. She has written many outstanding novels

(check out " The Color Purple, " " Possessing the Secret Of Joy " ) and several

volumes of poetry. If anyone is interested, she is also going to be speaking

and reading from a new book in the south bay next month.
