Guest guest
Dear Steven, I appreciate the heads up regarding Bacheeso. On another deception, I've found some Mexican restaurants in San Francisco claiming to serve brown rice when it's really white rice in a brown sauce! Have you ever had a similar experience? Guest guest
Mike - I had a similar situation occur at a Chinese restaurant when I lived in Orange County in the 80's. I always asked for veggie fried rice with brown rice and they always brought me rice that was brown. One day, the rice was white and I asked them to take it back and remake the meal with brown rice. The waiter took the dish back and brought it out again in 30 seconds. The rice was then colored brown, but I knew there had not been enough time to remake the meal. That's when I realized that they were simply pouring soy sauce on white rice to make it brown. When I confronted the manager about it, he said that I had asked for brown rice and I received rice that was brown. He couldn't understand the problem, he said. Needless to say, I did not eat or pay for that meal and I never again returned to that restaurant. A few months later it went out of business. - Dr. Michael R.
