So, unless the message has some vegetarian recipes on it, please do not waste our time...

This is why I think we should put a specific topic in the subject line. This makes it easy for people who are interested only in recipes to just ignore certain e-mails. I think we all do a pretty good job of sticking to just posting recipes, but once and awhile there are topics that need to be discussed (such as the McD's french fries) that I feel are appropriate to bring up.

Just my .02 worth.

For the few Marinites out there, or those just passing by on their way to Point

Reyes, there are a number of other restaurants that offer tofu scrambles that

you might like to be aware of.

Willie's Cafe in Kentfield has nice ambience and has a nice " tofu only "

scramble. I would suggest adding a bit of salsa to it, or green chilies. It's a

wee bit bland. I believe they also offer a tempeh burger at lunchtime.

Address: 799 College Ave., Kentfield

Phone: 415-455-9455

Directions: Take Sir Francis Drake W. from Hwy. 101 for approx. 2 miles, turn

left onto College Ave., it's on your right handside about 2 blocks down from

College of Marin.

Lundy's in San Rafael has a very down-to-earth setting and also has a tofu

scramble (you'll have to ask them to hold the eggs and cheese). Again, you might

want to order it with something a little spicy or encourage them to add extra

veggies to replace the cheese and eggs.

Address: 1143 -4th Street, San Rafael

Phone: 415-456-7669

Directions: Take Hwy. 101 to the Central San Rafael Exit, go west on 4th Street

for 5 to 6 blocks. Lundy's is on your left.

As far as crepes go, there is a Vietnamese Restaurant (also on 4th Street in San

Rafael) called Paradise Restaurant. It used to be all vegan so they have

numerous mock meat options on the menu. They have a crepe on the menu that is

not made with eggs or other animal products that is scrumptious. They serve it

with lots of greens and tasty fresh herbs. From what I understand, there lunch

time buffet is supposed to be quite spectacular. I wouldn't go there

specifically for the ambiance, but it's clean and they could certainly use your

business.

Address: 1444-4th St, San Rafael

Phone: 415-456-3572

Directions: Take Hwy. 101 to the Central San Rafael Exit, go west on 4th Street

for 6 to 7 blocks. Paradise is on your right somewhere near D Streeet.

I'd also just like to throw in as a reminder, that this Saturday is EarthSave

Bay Area's Michael Greger talk. Boy he's making his rounds, isn't he? It will be

held in San Rafael and it begins at 6:30. Delicious refreshements will be served

after his talk.

The Cost is $3.00 for members/$6.00 for non-members. To join EarthSave, it’s $35

for standard membership/$20 seniors, students and living lightly/$50 for

household.

Directions: The lecture will be held at The Unitarian Church located at 240

Channing Way in San Rafael. Take Hwy. 101, exit at Freitas Pkwy (approx. 15

minutes north of the Golden Gate bridge/5 minutes north of the Richmond Bridge).

If northbound, veer to your right then turn left onto the frontage road, Redwood

Hwy. If southbound, turn left, cross the highway, turn left then go north on

Redwood Hwy. Now turn right at the first light onto Professional Center Pkwy. At

the top of the hill, turn right onto Channing Way. The church is on your

left.

For more details about northbay events, call EarthSave Bay Area's Hotline at

415.285.8228.

Hope to see you there,

Syndee Collison,

EarthSave Bay Area Co-Chair
