Guest guest Posted February 28, 2003 Report Share Posted February 28, 2003 Hi, Tammy and I are trying to get the attention of coastside (Pacifica/Half Moon Bay) veg*ns in the hopes of bringing them to SFBAVeg and having local Vegan Food Parties. Our first event is the Sunday, March 2 Dr. Greger lecture. We've posted flyers around town and talked to neighbors and friends in the area about the event. We also sent a press release to local papers. One local paper, the Tribune, copied the press release almost word for word and published it! (Including the opening line, " If you've consumed meat in the last 20 years you need to see this lecture. " ) Talking about having editorial control! The reason I'm writing is that I want to encourage you all to send press releases to local newspapers when you have events. Many of you seasoned AR-related event coordinators already know this. Editors of small papers are just waiting for local information - and it's a great way to get more people to your event.
