Please be sure to contact Jackie Bowland at Joe Nation's office (info below) if you'd like to offer a quick comment of support at that hearing. She'll be making a list and will need confirmation. If you represent an organization committed to children's health and /or vegetarian issues (one in the same, actually) PLEASE come testify on the educational, health, and cultural merits of including plant-based vegetarian school lunches to CA school Children. Students are strongly encouraged to attend. If you cannot attend, your letters are greatly appreciated and will be presented to the committee (address/fax number below). Following this notice is an updated list of support letters received to date. This committee hearing is a rare and fortunate opportunity to voice your position to people who are listening and who decide policy. Our adversaries are organized - it's time we do the same. Call Jackie Bowland, (916) 319-2006 who is the education contact person for ACR 16's author, Assemblyman Joe Nation if you plan to testify, as the Committee will inquire about our suggested presentation time. If you would like to testify (on behalf of yourself or an organization), it has been requested by Joe Nation's office that statements are kept under 1 minute (90 seconds MAX). If you are not a representative for a formal organization, but an individual parent, teacher, student, or concerned citizen who would like to show your support, you are encouraged to attend, but simply identify yourself and state your support -- quickly! 1, 2 sentences MAX.
