Guest guest
This is where *we* can make a difference. If the veggie community doesn't speak up for veg lunches, who will?! If you can't make it up to Sacramento to testify, please do the next best thing -- write a LETTER and fax/send ASAP. If time is short, call them! Hearing is Wedn. 3/5 See below for short sample letters that you can write in 3 minutes. Getting approved by the Assembly Education Commitee is an important first step! If it passes there, it will have to go to the Assembly Appropriations Committee. The key to whether or not a piece of legislation goes to Assembly Appropriations is shown at the end of the Legislative Counsel's Digest. This is at the beginning of ACR 16 and says " Fiscal committee: Yes. " If it passes the Assembly Appropriations Committee, it will go to the full Assembly for a vote, and then over to the Senate to go through a similar process - policy committee, appropriations committee, and then the full Senate. (above info from Rose Lernberg) If you need help writing, check out the sample letters from our letter writing booth at VegFair -- http://www.generationv.org/cia.htm#veg The three letters offer a perspective from student, constituent, or parent -- feel free to modify and use if it makes it easier... BE SURE TO SEND YOUR LETTER TO JOE NATION'S office so they can present it in support to the Assembly Education Committee (see Davy's note posted earlier today for details) Cheers, Tammy
