Following the potluck, Keith Akers, a featured lecturer at the World vegetarian Day Celebration 2002, will be speaking on Pythagoras - 6th Century B.C. Greek Philospoher, mathematician, spiritual reformer and vegetarian. Keith will discuss Pythagoras' vegetarian influence on ancient religions especially the Essenes and early Christians. Keith is the author of two books which will be available before and after the meeting: A Vegetarian Sourcebook: The Nutrition, Ecology and Ethic of a Natural Foods Diet and The Lost Religion of Jesus: Simple Living and Non Violence in early Christianity.
