The home chef division is free to enter. Entrants receive a copy of the Veggie Cook- Off cookbook and have a chance to win prizes! Let's have SFVS members sweep the awards categories this year! Entry categories are appetizer, soup/salad, entree, or dessert. This year's Veggie Cook-Off will raise public awareness about the Food For Thought campaign by highlighting the importance for animal shelters to offer animal friendly menus at their events. (And, yes, animal friendly is now another euphemism for vegetarian!) Kudos to event sponsors the Marin Humane Society, Peninsula Humane Society / SPCA, the San Francisco SPCA and Animal Place. Tickets are available for $25 in advance; $30 at the door; $15 for kids under 12. Proceeds benefit the Animal Place Sanctuary in Solano County, CA. Animal Place rescues farm animals and dogs while teaching the importance of healthy and humane food choices. If you haven't visited them yet, check out their open house schedule, or plan a work party with friends.
