Guest guest
Hi All, I went to a great yoga workshop last night in Berkeley where veganism and animal rights were one of the main focusses of the class. It was taught by Sharon Gannon and David Life, who are very well-known teachers in the yoga community, and who started the Jivamukti yoga center in NYC ( http://www.jivamuktiyoga.com ). They handed out PETA literature before class, talked about veganism and animal suffering throughout the class, and played audio clips of Ingrid Newkirk (and Dr. Martin Luther King). To be clear, non-violence and vegetarianism are a part of many yoga traditions, but I have never heard any of my other teachers advocate for veganism so strongly. It was very inspiring. Although David and Sharon are not local to SF, they do occasionally teach workshops here; next time they are passing through, I'll try post to the list ahead of time so that other interested vegan yogis can attend. Peace, Andy
