Guest guest
Hi Rahul! Regarding the comment of your friends that you do eat plants and maybe plants feel pain too: Plants don't have nervous systems, so it is not real likely that they feel pain. Also, a system for feeling pain is something that animals have in part so they can get away from whatever is causing the pain (in other words, fire burning your finger feels bad, so you pull your finger away; a lion biting you feels bad, so you try to run away). Having such a system for feeling pain is less likely in plants because they don't have much use for a program to tell them to run away from something (since they are stationary). Finally on this point, if you don't want to kill plants, the best thing you can do is to be a vegetarian. It takes many pounds of plants to make one pound of cow flesh or chicken flesh, or whatever. In other words, eating animals is a very inefficient use of resources. You have to feed Bessie the cow many, many plants for each pound of her body that you want to eat. As to other animals being made for human's use , animals were here for billions of years before humans ever existed. Therefore, this arguement makes absolutely no sense. Are they saying God made other animals and let them live for billions of years so that humans could use them for 100,000 years?
