On February 14, 2003 California State Senator Hollingsworth introduced

SB233 - a bill that would repeal the current law. Late last year, Viva!USA

began contacting activists and officials about prosecuting Adidas for the

sale of kangaroo skinned soccer cleats in our state. We were hoping to find

someone to enforce this law. Now that law is in jeopardy of being changed!

We need your voices to help make sure it stays as is! SB 233 has been

referred to the Senate Natural Resources and Wildlife Committee. The hearing

has not yet been scheduled. It is expected to occur in late March.

What you can do:

Write the Senators listed above ASAP. If you can make it to Sacramento on

March 25 to simply voice your opposition, please contact Viva! (information

below).

Points to include:

- Kangaroos are being killed by the millions in Australia to help make

products such as soccer cleats and they are being sold here in California.

If SB 233 passes then essentially it will seem as if Californians support

this slaughter. This bill serves as our way of taking a stance against this

bloody massacre.

-Kangaroos have been protected in California since 1970 - there is no reason

for them to be deleted from this list.

If you send a letter, please send a copy to us at either info or

to Viva!, P.O. Box 4398, Davis, CA 95617.
