great review of Udupi Palace

We are very lucky a SF paper giving great reviews for a Vegetarian Restaurant in

Berkeley. Right On.

 

By the way, another Indian restaurant, " New Ganges " restaurant had 2 previous

owners. (maybe more, I'm not sure) The former restaurant was called " Ganges " ,

therefore, " old " restaurant reviews don't count for the " New Ganges " .

I don't know about the Udupi Palace in Berkeley, but the one in Sunnyvale

was disappointing. I went there a couple of months back - the dosas

(crepes) were too salty and the sambhar/ rasam (South Indian vegetable

lentil soup served as an accompaniment to Dosas), which should be served

piping hot, were lukewarm;

 

 

 

I would instead recommend Karaikudi - although not vegetarian, it is

vegetarian-friendly and has some of the best crepes and appetizers I have

ever eaten. It also has cuisine from a number of South Indian states (which

are quite distinct by themselves) and even jaded taste buds will find

something to write home about.
