Hi Robin,

Animal Place is a 60 acre, farmed animal sanctuary located in Vacaville. It's a

nice place

where rescued cows, goats, sheep, chickens, pigs, rabbits, and dogs get to live

safely and

happily. You can take tours plus visit their website: http://animalplace.org/

Another great place, but a bit further north, is Farm Sanctuary. In fact, their

Hoe Down is

coming up in very early June. I've gone the last three years. It's a two day

event where you

can take tours of the barns and pastures full of wonderful rescued farmed

animals whom you

get to meet. They have a lineup of guest speakers and you can either camp there,

or spend the

night in a hotel up the road. There's a DJ Sat night for the barn dance. The

next day entails

Gene and Lorri Bauston talking about legislative stuff and individual rescued

animal stories.

Includes a vegan dinner Sat night and two vegan lunches, plus light breakfast

snacks Sun am.

Costs around $70. I highly recommend a visit there, too! About 2.5 hours north

of the Bay

Area. Carpools are often arranged. They have a nice visitor center, too. Visit:

http://farmsanctuary.org/

Hope this helps!

Lori
