She also made all arrangements in record time so thatthis message can go out early (in order to accommodate forpossible email disruptions on VegInfo server this month). " Memo's Mexican Cocina is a veg/non-veg restaurant that has somewonderful selections for vegans! Memo's opened last October andpromptly received 5 out of 5 forks in the Contra Costa Timesrestaurant review! Because the co-owner is vegetarian, he's takengreat care that the beans and rice are strictly vegetarian. In addition, Memo's is one of the very rare restaurants in CCCountythat offers (non-GMO) vegetarian meat substitutes. Enchiladasfilled with tofu or tasty potatoes or veg 'chicken'; sopas; gorditas; for instance, are some of the tasty veg choices ontheir menu. They're known for their freshly made masa as wellas their popular pumpkin seed mole sauce. The owners are excitedto host the BAVRT and will provide us with a special select choiceof combination plates that you'll be sure to sink your teeth into, including a vegan dessert! " This restaurant is only a few blocks from Concord BART station. It is located in downtown Concord just one block from Todos SantosPlaza. Make sure to RSVP.---#1) Move to MontereyAs some of you know, I am moving to Monterey. Got a contract there.People have asked me about future of BAVRT. As long as people stepforward to host dinners, BAVRT can continue and flourish. So whendo YOU want to volunteer to host a dinner? ( " What is involved inhosting a dinner? " http://www.veginfo.com/bavrt/hosting.html )Please try to RSVP to my cell phone (408) 839-5921 this month,as email interruptions are likely. I also have not found a placeto stay in Monterey yet. Any leads for apartments, condos, orother rental arrangements highly appreciated. If you have a cheap reliable commuter car that you are planning to sell, let me know. Any of you in the market for a FREE computer rack? I have a 19 " computer rack. Outside dimensions are around 61 " height, 20.5 " width and 25.5 " depth. You have to arrange transportationfrom Walnut Creek and lifting power. Need to act fast to getthis! I may even throw in a free rack mount computer (passiveback plane chassis). If you are in that part of the woods (Monterey), feel free togive me a call!---#3) Last month's trek http://www.veginfo.com/bavrt/restaurantlist.htmlDavid hosted an extremely successful dinner at Udupi Palacein Berkeley last month. We had 42 people who showed up,there were 13 cancellations and three no-shows. The dinner started with appetizers served at our tables. Therewere something like six different kinds appetizers. We were givenabout two of each - more than a dozen appetizers to start ourdinner! Some people thought it was the whole dinner and many peoplegot full just eating them. The restaurant then brought out theactual buffet and we all eagerly stood in line to stuff overselveswith this vegan feast.Everybody gave incredibly high marks for the food and serviceat this restaurant. We were even given a vegan dessert, as partof the buffet! Everything was superb.---#4) News Section ( If you come across news items, veg or otherwise, in the mainstream media that may be of potential interest to BAVRT members, please forward me the URL. )a) State bid to offer veggie school lunches http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2003/03/05/MN18671\ ..DTL http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/asm/ab_0001-0050/acr_16_bill_20030220_amended\ _asm.html [Above links were sent by a BAVRT member.
