The Compassionate Cooks are looking forward to seeing you in April for our

" Mediterranean Meals " class. As usual, we plan to demonstrate delicious dishes,

to debunk myths regarding plant-based eating, and to have loads of fun!

April's cooking class is yet another testament to the abundance of fabulously

delicious, filling, and nutritious food you enjoy when you leave behind the meat

and dairy. Join us on Saturday April 26th as we whip up:

a.. Bruschetta with Cannellini Beans, Tomatoes, Garlic, and Basil

b.. Asparagus Soup with Thyme

c.. Green Bean and Chickpea Salad

d.. Pasta Primavera with Roasted Vegetables

e.. Baked Stuffed Pears

In addition to what we're actually cooking, we will provide you with a bevy of

resources, suggestions, and ideas for plant-based cooking. We'll also be

offering a book raffle, sponsored by VegNews (www.vegnews.com), the winner of

which will receive the wonderful cookbook (my favorite!) " The Peaceful Palate "

by Jennifer Raymond.

WHEN: Saturday, April 26th -- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE: First Unitarian Church of Oakland, 685 14th St. at Castro. Directions:

http://www.uuoakland.org/directions.htm

HOW TO SIGN UP: Please contact me at compassionatecooks to make sure

there is room in the class. Once you let me know that you would like to attend,

Unitarian Universalist Church at 1187 Franklin Street in San Francisco.

PREVIOUS CLASS COMMENTS:

As usual, we'd like to share some comments from our class participants. Here is

some more feedback from December's class:

" As for class last night, it was delicious! And fun. Those soups and sauces

and pastries were divine! I hadn't thought about the animal rights aspect much

before, but last night's information made me realize (obvious, I know) that

being an animal lover and a meat-eater is not really compatible these days. Most

of all, your class has reinforced the idea that a vegan diet is feasible and not

unbearably limited. Now I'm looking more into what I can feed my kids, and am

leaning ever more strongly toward vegan. "

" The class the excellent & was really impressed with the food that you made. I

have to admit that cooking has always been a bit intimidating to me, but I feel

that the class really helped me. "

" All the food was spectacular. No other word for it! Thanks so much! "

" Please sign me up for your mailing list of classes -- this was just fantastic!

I'm learning so much from you and the other participants. "

" The cooking class was awesome! It was very informative, and I loved the

recipes! "
