Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm sure by now everyone's heard about AB 732 passing through the first committee on April 8th. Now it goes to the Agriculture committee -- where it will be heavily lobbied against by agribusiness. I urge you to make the calls outlined below, and I urge you to make the call more than once! I've called a few times (both Barbara Matthews and Herb Wesson), and each time they either don't ask me any other information at all or they take just the name of my city. What's more, the staff member I spoke to in Barbara Matthews' office said he's been getting a lot of calls that it sounds like we're doing a good job rallying support. So, let's keep it up and keep it going right up until the 21st. We also need letters to go to both Matthews and Wesson from restaurants, non-animal businesses and organizations, food industry, etc. So if you own a business or can contact restaurants in the Bay Area to write a simple letter of support, PLEASE DO SO!! What I've done in the past is have the business write the letter and then give it to me. I, then, fax it to the assemblymembers to ensure it gets there. Please consider taking some time to do this. IF EACH ONE OF US got just ONE letter from a restaurant or business/organization, think how powerful that would be! Good luck! ******** Veal crates and gestation crates are so cruel that they have been banned across Europe, and it's time for them to be outlawed in the U.S. as well. It is critical for Assembly-members to hear from California citizens who care about animals, as agribusiness is lobbying against the measure. Please contact the chair of the Assembly Agriculture Committee, Barbara Matthews, and urge her to support and pass AB 732 out of her committee: Honorable Barbara Matthews California State Assembly P.O.
