Guest guest
by a big company, please read the last line. By the way, is Soy Delicious bought out too? I was wondering why Imagine and Turtle Mt wasn't at the Veg Fair event this year.... Hmm, every healthy and organic company seems to be gobbled up by a big corporation. I also heard small organic farms, are being pushed out by larger organic farms... --Imagine Foods, the founder is still a vegetarian... About Us It began as a dream... Founded in the Missouri countryside in 1982, Robert Nissenbaum was one of two partners in the early days of the company. Over the past 20 years, through lots of growth and change, Imagine Foods has steadfastly maintained its commitment to making the highest quality, most delicious all-natural foods. Here are other brief insights regarding Robert’s background and our history. In 1971, when he was just 20, Robert opened Morning Dew Organic Food Market in his hometown of St. Louis, MO. It was one of the original natural/organic food stores in the US. Back then an extremely small percentage of the population was beginning to understand there may be a link between diet, health and well being, and our environment. Robert’s early perceptions of this led him to explore a natural vegetarian diet, macrobiotics, yoga, and organic gardening. He used the small store to share these ideas with other people and make organic food available. In 1974, he organized the founding of the Sunshine Inn in St. Louis, one of the early natural foods restaurants in the US, which remained open until the late ‘90’s. In the summer of 1984 Robert and his partner took some of their products including soy tempeh and an early version of Rice Dream beverage, to a natural food industry trade show. Distributors from all over the US wanted to buy one product in particular – Rice Dream Frozen Dessert, a non-dairy alternative to ice cream Robert had developed. That began a long adventure of moving the small company literally out of a small shop in the woods to Northern California, which Robert perceived as a mecca for both agricultural resources and natural foods consumer awareness. Nearly 20 years later Imagine Foods makes some of the best-selling organic and natural brands – Rice Dream, Soy Dream, Imagine Natural Organic Soups and Broths, Power Dream Soy Energy Drinks and Soy Dream Organic Frozen Desserts. Through the years what hasn’t changed is our commitment to Robert’s earliest belief in the value of good tasting, healthy natural and organic foods. We appreciate your interest in our products and hope that you and your family will enjoy them for years to come. In December 2002, Imagine Foods proudly joined the Hain-Celestial Group, a leading natural and organic food company. Being part of the Hain-Celestial family of outstanding brands will enable Imagine Foods to bring to market even more high quality organic and natural food products. signature: FAQ on vegetarian resources SFBAVeg/ http://www.vegdining.com http://www.sfvs.org Living Foods: SFLivingFoods/ due to my high amount of emails, I am unable to answer everyone's emails on vegetarian questions. Guest guest
I've decided to expand my comitment in supporting veg companies to include my investment strategy. I bought stock in HAIN and other veg- friendly companies. HAIN was at the Veg Fair in Santa clara giving out free food, and while there I asked some of the workers how they like working for Hain (gotta keep track of the employee happiness in the company I own). HAIN of course produces food products under many veg friendly labels, including: Westbrae, Health valley, Terra Chips, Westsoy, Yves, Garden of Eatin', Arrowhead Mills, and Celestial Seasonings teas. The only draw back is that the largest share of stock is owned by Heinz (about 37%). But we should remember, that when private small companies like Imagine get bought, they are not being bought out, they have reached a mutual agreement and I think its nice that HAIN continues to market under each of these product lines. If someone has some negative feedback on HAIN, I'd be interested in hearing about it. >-- Sunny wrote: > In December 2002, Imagine Foods proudly joined the Hain-Celestial Group, a leading natural and organic food company.
