Guest guest
Does anyone know of a good (but moderately priced) Thai restaurant in the East Bay (Alameda, Oakland, or Berkeley) that serves brown rice? I love Thai food, but I won't touch the pure starch that white rice is, and servers are always so distressed when I refuse the rice, asking me to repeat over and over again that I really don't want it, as if they couldn't possibly have heard me correctly (I'm betting I'm not the only one this happens to)... Thanks!
Guest guest
Hello: May be instead of repeating over and over- if you could let them know the reason for not wanting it-they may undersatnd & if enough similar mindset people dine there- they may make arrangements to accomodate their clientele. PS: Culturally speaking -such non partaking of complementary food is often viewed as an insult in the old country(possibly watered down here in US-but nevertheless present) Sam SFBAVeg , " neofelion " <neofelion> wrote: > Does anyone know of a good (but moderately priced) Thai restaurant in > the East Bay (Alameda, Oakland, or Berkeley) that serves brown rice? > I love Thai food, but I won't touch the pure starch that white rice > is, and servers are always so distressed when I refuse the rice, > asking me to repeat over and over again that I really don't want it, > as if they couldn't possibly have heard me correctly (I'm betting I'm > not the only one this happens to)... > > Thanks!
