Guest guest
A website that I recommend is http://www.veganmercantile.com. It where I get vegan cat food for my cats in RI. I also did see vegetarian dog food (not cat though) at Rainbow Grocery. I would recommend them highly over Trader Joes. Guest guest
before you consider feeding your cat vegan food, you should really read up on issues related to feline health and diet. i had been feeding my cat dry food (the meaty kind), and my vet recommended that we switch her to wet food for the sake of her longevity and health. since then, she has stopped vomiting everyday and she's lost some of her excess weight. apparently, the proper diet for an average cat is one measured tablespoon of high-protein, high-fat wet food, twice each day - the atkins diet for cats. cats typically have almost zero carbs in their diet. unlike dogs and humans, cats are pure carnivores. by feeding them a diet outside of the nutrients they would find for themselves in nature, we are essentially killing our loved pets. cats do not eat oats, gluten, corn, or any of the other materials usually found in highly processed cat food. she's eating " wellness " brand food now. we selected this brand because it contains no slaughterhouse by-products, the ingredients come from good sources, and they don't add oats or gluten. you can find numerous other brands at your local health food store. for 95 cents per can, you can feed your cat a healthy, complete, natural diet. as a vegan, i actually believe it's wrong to feed your cat vegan food. for one, you are forcing a diet on your cat that she did not and would not choose in the wild. it is also a diet that could lead to heart problems, obesity, and diabetes. and as far as i know, there have been no major, long-term studies that examine the effects of a vegan diet on your cat. here are some links i've found about cat nutrition. before you decide to switch a carnivorous animal to your own diet, i suggest you talk to your vet. if you can't handle buying and handling meat products, it's possible that allowing a carnivorous animal to live in your home is not the best choice for you. http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/ others: http://www.ahnsf.com/id81.htm http://www.drsfostersmith.com/general.cfm?siteid=0 & gid=119 http://rocquoone.com/diet_and_health.htm http://www.api4animals.org/doc.asp?ID=742 On 04/29/03, Madame Bovary <tpennacchia wrote: > A website that I recommend is http://www.veganmercantile.com.
