Guest guest
Hey everyone, Freedom for Animals and VegNews are working on producing a guide to veg eating in SF. (We'll branch outside the city in future editions.) Compiling the information for restaurants with good veg options and health food stores throughout the city is quite an undertaking. We could really use some help from people who live in or are familiar with certain neighborhoods. The still unclaimed neighborhoods are listed below. south of market south beach potrero hill chinatown fisherman's wharf russian hill nob hill marina district pacific heights tenderloin/civic center hayes valley noe valley presidio heights fillmore western addition telegraph hill twin peaks diamond heights excelsior hunter's point glen park bernal heights Who knew SF was so big???! In any event, basically what we need is for people to go to a neighborhood and walk/drive around to restaurants in the area to look for restaurants that have decent veg options. I've found that walking in and grabbing a to-go menu and looking at the choices is the best way to do it. If there's clearly nothing veg, we obviously wouldn't want to include it. If there are some veg options, investigate a little further to see whether the items truly are veg. Use your judgment as to whether you think the restaurant should be included. Basically, if a vegan were in the neighborhood and didn't know where to eat, would you suggest this place to them? If so, include it. Then type up the restaurants' name, address, and phone number, and one brief sentence about the type of food it sells, and you're done! If this sounds like something you might be willing and able to help with, please contact Joe Connelly at editor. Thank you!!! Nora
