Canada's first animal in a decade with mad cow disease was confirmed May 20 in Alberta. Eight countries, including the US, quickly closed their borders to Canadian cattle and beef. The discovery raises many questions: Has mad cow infected American cattle? Are testing techniques adequate? Should cross-species feeding be banned?
