last hurdle for Veggie School Lunch bill !

Hi all,

 

Remember the veggie school lunch resolution, ACR 16? This is the

legislation sponsored by Joe Nation.... We (Bay Area Vegetarians) gathered

letters in support of this at our booth at VegFair in February (gosh, that

seems SO long ago).

 

Anyways, I just heard from Soy Happy that Monday is the last vote before

the full Senate (it's already passed the Assembly)... If you haven't yet

contacted your Senator yet, please do so! You can get their contact info

ACR16 final vote on Monday

ACR16, the " Healthy School Lunch " resolution is about to come up for one

last vote in the CA Legislature. ACR16 requires CA school food services

to offer one vegetarian alternative on the daily lunch menu. It is

sponsored by Project Healthy Beginnings and authored by Assemblyman Joe

Nation (D: San Rafael). Last month, it passed the full Assembly. On

Monday, June 12th, Senator Ducheny will bring it up for a vote in the

State Senate. If it passes, it will be officialy endorsed!

 

Soy Happy is acting as Media and Communications Coordinator for this

Resolution. Thanks to all who have taken the time to contact their

representatives urging their support for this Resolution, and for all the

written letters of endorsement sent to Joe Nation's office. Undoubtedly,

it has been the force of grass roots advocacy that has taken it this far.

One more testament to the power of the individual voice!

 

Please be sure to contact your CA State Senators now if you have not

already done so, asking them to support this Resolution when it comes up

for a vote on Monday. Links and contact information are available on the
