Caity,

I haven't been to the SF Zoo, partly because I'm not willing to spend $9

or whatever the admission is and I keep forgetting to go on their free

days.

However, there was an article in one of the weekly papers recently about

the sad conditions of the animals at the SF Zoo, and how much of the money

which voters approved allocating to zoo renovations has gone to a new gift

shop and restaurant. I think it was the Bay Guardian, but might have been

the Weekly...

I am confident that many of the people who work at and visit the zoo

truly love animals and have the best intentions for them; however, I

find the existence of zoos ethically questionable and choose not to

support them.

PETA's fact sheet on zoos does a great job of explaining the dangers of

putting animals on display...

I've avoided zoo's for many years. One reason I'm against them is for

keeping gorillas. Gorillas are shy animals, and putting them on display

is mental abuse for them.
