You were only a block away when you were at Union Square. I'm from NYC (I only moved to CA a year ago) and the Veg City Diner is a vegetarian and vegan diner, which is just like a real diner - even a revolving vegan cake display - and amazing! It's open 24 HOURS a day!!! It's on 14th street between 5th and 6th Avenues but right off 6th ave. Anyone visiting NY must make at least one trip to this amzing restaurant! Steve Simitzis <steve Re: McVeggie Burger > am i only the only person on this list who thinks that supporting mcdonalds is a bad idea? I never eat at McDonald's. But the fact that they are trying to target those interesting in eating something healthier than a burger, and making fun of themselves at the same time is a really great step, ossibly towards going out of business! Two stores going out of business in SF is another sign. I agree with you that I'd do anything not to eat any any chain places along my many cross country drives between CA and NY. I always plan ahead and bring a cooler for cities where there is not a place to eat or buy groceries. However, I know that a couple I am friends with, who are vegan, don't do that. They'd rather go to Taco Bell or Subway or Olive Garden than go through the minor hassles of planning. I think that is a horrible idea myself, and feel that my husband and I eat much better food on our trips but people are different. That's the way they like to do it and they are comfortable with it. So in that light, I think it's great that these chains are trying to make a broader selection of food. Great eating everyone! Emily
