If you're planning on going to the Farm Sanctuary trip on Sunday, I have motel info for Fairfield/Vacaville. You can make it a whole weekend of helping the animals! South Bay Veggies are heading north to Animal Place near Vacaville and Fairfield for a day of helping the animals. In case you aren't familiar with Animal Place, it's a nonprofit sanctuary for abused and discarded farmed animals founded in 1989. Rescued individuals and indigenous wildlife share 60 acres of forest, meadow, pasture, hills and a small lake. On Saturday, June 28, we'll carpool from San Jose (if there's enough interest, a second carpool can start from SF or we can make a pit- stop) in the morning (probably around 7:30-8am) to head up to Animal Place, which is about 1.5 to 2 hours driving. Once we get there, we'll take a tour of the grounds, meet some of the residents and their people. After the tour, we'll be helping with miscellaneous projects around the farm. Saturday afternoon we'll pile back into the vehicles and head back south. The only costs will be to help with gas (maybe $5) and for meals (we can arrange a potluck lunch on Saturday). If you're interested, please email me by Wednesday (6/25) and let me know where you'll be coming from (to get an idea for carpooling).
