Guest guest
Hello all- My sister just called me from Florida (Miami area). She just rescued two tiny wild rabbits (both of them fit on the palm of her hand together) that would have fallen prey to a lawn mower and/or a big snake that was hanging out in the same yard, and she wants to know what to feed them. Apparently she tried giving them cow's milk but it didn't work. She hasn't taken them inside yet or anything, and she's still waiting for their mom to show up, but wants to be prepared in case several hours go by before mommy rabbit comes back. Any advice is very welcome, just email me directly at flomanovil. Sorry if this is off-topic but I didn't know who else to ask... Thanks- Florencia
Guest guest
Hi Florencia! Just to support what Tammy posted; I answer phones and do some volunteer work for a nonhumyn animal rescue group and we generally advise people to put the babies (of myriad species) back where they were found unless the environment is directly unsafe or they're injured, as generally their parents are, as Tammy posted, just off foraging and will return within a few hours...if worried, observing from an undetectable location (for example, from inside a house if they were found in the yard) for a few hours is also recommended to verify that the parents are okay. i know when i was younger, as a result of a very incomplete educational system, i also did harm when my intent was only to help, so it's felt really (self-servingly ;]) good to be a part of getting this stuff out there. anyhoo, hope happiness and insight are daily in all of your respective worlds, amanda SBC DSL - Now only $29.95 per month!
