Guest guest
Can anyone name a disease of deficiency that afflicts Americans? Some might say Osteoporosis, but others would argue that results from too much dairy, which drives calcium out of the bones before the body can utilize the calcium it just ingested. How about diseases of excess? Far more of those. Some folks say fruit has no protein, but I just checked the container on my OJ, and a glass provides 2 grams. I once read, where I don't remember, that a triathelete may need more than 7 -11 grams of protein a day. Forget what the recommended intake according to our government. Yes, to build muscles, you need to take in higher amounts of protein. But to live a healthy life, just eat. If it was so difficult to come by what we need, we would have never evolved to the point where we are now. B 12 and flax oil or ground flax seeds should have you covered. Guest guest
Hello, I am a vegetarian, so I get most of my protein from dairy. However, I've found that even that is not enough. The recommended daily value is around 60 grams, and even with dairy, I don't get that. I've started adding a protein supplement to my diet. Trader Joe's has several good powder mixes that you mix into juice (pretty tasty too). I buy the Milk and Egg one, but for vegans, they have a soy one as well. One glass gives you almost 50% of your daily value, so I know that one glass a day gets me off on the right foot. Protein is very important in building muscles, but also for your brain. It's an important part of our diet that we should not skimp on. ~Kristy
