Guest guest
Hi all, For all our new veg friends from SF Pride (welcome!) and as a reminder to the many folks who have been asking me when the next Bay Area Vegetarians event is... What: 4th of July Sand-n-Surf Vegan Food Party!! Where: Montara State Beach When: Gather @ 2 pm, eat @ 2:30 pm Why: Food, friends, fun! Who: All of us! What else: Can anyone bring a card table? Email me! This is our 2nd annual Sand-n-Surf picnic, and I know it'll be good fun and great opportunity to meet old and new friends. We can also build a veggie villa in the sand.. Bring your buckets and shovels if you're interested! While all food is vegan, the people don't need to be. Please bring your veg/non-veg family and friends and let them share some yummy vegan food. Just remember that every person attending should contribute a vegan food dish that can provide 6 servings. Please remember to also bring an autographed copy of your recipe, everything you will need to eat and serve your dish with, and a blanket or chair to sit on. For more specifics, please review our VFP guidelines at http://www.bayareaveg.org/vfpdetails.htm Chris and I will bring drinks, so if you're planning to attend, drop us an email so we can plan accordingly. See Chris' write up below for suggestions with driving that day. Also, if anyone has an extra card table that they can bring, please let me know. See you on Friday! Tammy Chris' Driving Directions ========================= Traffic to the coast will be busy that day especially along Hwy 92 into Half Moon Bay. Please plan accordingly and leave early to allow extra time for traffic. I would strongly advise people come in from Pacifica along Hwy 1. Even if you're coming from the South Bay. I commute from Montara to Cupertino and the distance is only a few extra miles but much much quicker due to having multiple lanes and higher speed limits in each direction compared to Hwy 92. Route I'd take from the South Bay - 280 North Exit Skyline (Hwy 35) LEFT on Sharp Park Crossover/merge onto Hwy 1 in Pacifica heading south toward Half Moon Bay. Montara is approx. 7 miles South of this point. Montara is the first town after Devils Slide. Park close to restaurant and use the steps behind it to the beach. Same goes for those coming from San Francisco or the East Bay. Don't fall for Hwy 92 however tempted. Remember Hwy 1 via Pacifica is your friend, Hwy 92 BAD.
