Guest guest
Last Night in front of Gary Danko's Restaurant, Kate and I were successful in leafletting and bull horn for 2 hours. A good steady flow of foot traffic. in the Fishermans Wharf area got a steady flow of the facts, smiles, info, and leaflets. 2 cops came shortly after we started. and basically welcomed us! very friendly...basically told us to " carry on " . just as long as we do not stand in the door way or go inside. It is a perfect corner location (North Point at Hyde) so broadcasting was very easy...people came out and had their evening cocktails on their balconies at the neighboring apt/hotels and listened for a long while. An interesting note was that a gentleman pulled to the curb and walked around the back of the restaurant ...he was delivering foie gras & caviar! a foie gras distributor out of Lafayette!! A few words were exchanged...friendly. Here is a briefing of the schedule coming up for the next few weeks...All are outside demos...not " walk outs " . Hey, Kate, Richard and Kimberley and I want to express our concern...WE NEED MORE SUPPORT...1 to 2 people showing up at these demos is ok...but not as impactful as 5 or 10 people, or more. We are making progress...Chapeau! signed a pledge just last week. We have a list of many other restaurants that we have only begun to conquer...I have scheduled some for weekdays for those that would rather not take there " weekend hours " and some for the week ends for those that " work week days " ...so please, PLEASE consider joining us for only about 2 hours. For those of you a bit paranoid...we are very courteous and peaceful. The cops come and let us do this without reservation...leaflet, bullhorn and talk to people..the restaurant personnel come out and toy with us..and talk with us..we actually have a good time!..I find if very helpful for me to be able to VOICE my pent up frustrations (for lack of a better...or a stronger word!). At least try it. We've got the posters, leaflets and bullhorn...(if you have leaflets to donate that would be appreciated) Call me if you have any other concerns, want to car pool or what ever. Details on these are at bitebackvegan and frequent postings and reminders: Fri- 9/24 11:30 AM-Aqua Restaurant Sat-9/25 French Laundry- Yountville others from other areas will be joing us-car pooling available Fri- 10/1-WFAD City Hall-this isn't a restaurant demo. But I need someone to come and focus on just foie gras here Sat-10/9 Gary Danko (or Chapeau! if they do not remove from the menu) THANK YOU VERY MUCH... being heard above their cries, Paris
