Guest guest
I went to Kaleva, the new all veg Indian restaurant, last night for the second time, and again had an absolutely wonderful meal. The food is both delicious and creative, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the owner's obvious personal desire to provide fresh, healthy, and compassionate food just makes the place all the nicer. Unfortunately, however, the restaurant was almost empty. I really, really want to encourage everyone in the veg community to support this restaurant. It's on 6th St between Market & Mission in SF. It's just one block from the Powell Street Bart station (the walk from the Powell station is nicer than the walk from the Civic Center station). Thea Take Mail with you! Get it on your mobile phone. It would be great if you (and everyone else) could also include your reviews in UG so others will see it as they browse the restaurant section. I think good feedback makes it more likely folks will visit and try that restaurant. http://www.bayareaveg.org/ug/display.htm?id=397 The BAV dinner that Amy and Jay organized at Kaleva last month was very well attended (over 20 people, possibly 25?). I think organizing a group event a restaurant on a regular basis is a wonderful way to give exposure to that business and vegetarian foods, AND support the local veg community by giving folks opportunities to socialize with like-minded folks and just share good food and conversation. So if anyone is interested in organizing this as a new monthly dinner for BAV, feel free to email me.. It's a fun way to meet new people! Most of the BAV dinners are very casual, order off the menu type events. They range from smaller, more cozy gatherings of 6 to 8 people to larger and lively gatherings of 30 people (the latter being the hugely popular 2nd Tuesday dinner at BayLeaf Cafe that Sean started; fyi, the next one is on the 11th, see the BAV event calendar for details http://www.bayareaveg.org/events.php Cheers, Tammy www.bayareaveg.org
