Bay Area Bio-Defense Lab Proposal

The Department of Defense and Homeland Security have chosen Livermore Lab (and

now Tracy) for a Bio-defense Lab in which they will test on animals (most likely

cattle, sheep and swine) lethal agents that could be used on us in case of

terrorism. These will include all forms of biological and chemical agents—i.e.

anthrax, viruses for which there is no cure, and other substances they will not

reveal.

Any leak from the proposed lab can affect a 50-mile radius, which would

include San Jose, even with no wind. We need to get THOUSANDS of petitions into

Tri-Valley Cares as soon as possible.

The UC Regents are pushing for it, citing, " financial reasons. "

Homeland Security said it will make its decisions based on the reaction of the

affected population.
