Guest guest
Here's an action alert about a California grocery chain selling live lobsters in small plastic containers without water. Easy e-mail action. Thea Send to a Friend | Donate Now | Join Our Activist Network Tell Raley's Grocery Chain to Stop Hideously Abusing Live Animals! Dear Thea Langsam, Although confining and selling live lobsters is always cruel, Raley's—a California-based supermarket chain with more than 135 stores—has gone overboard when it comes to abusing these animals. The company is putting live lobsters in tiny plastic containers that are barely larger than the animals' bodies. The lobsters don't get any water to live in, and they receive no food at all until they are sold or die. Please click here to send a message to Raley's, and ask the company to follow in the compassionate footsteps of Whole Foods and Safeway by ending the sale of live lobsters. Also, please forward this alert to your friends and ask them to write in—Raley's needs to know that cruelty to animals is not acceptable. Thank you for everything that you do for animals! Send a letter to the following decision maker(s): Raley's Below is the sample letter: Stop Abusing Lobsters at Raley's Dear [decision maker name automatically inserted here], I am shocked to hear that Raley's sells lives lobsters in tiny plastic containers in its stores. These lobsters receive no food or water until they are sold or die. One Raley's store manager has said that lobsters in the containers usually die in a matter of days. Does Raley's really find this kind of animal abuse to be acceptable? I urge you to follow the lead of popular grocery chains such as Whole Foods and Safeway and stop selling live lobsters at Raley's stores today. Sincerely, Thea Langsam Take Action! What's At Stake: Just like other animals, lobsters feel pain and suffer. Grocery giant Whole Foods recently decided that there was no humane way to keep live lobsters in its stores and stopped selling them altogether.
