Guest guest
Hi all, If anyone tries to argue that greenhouse gases from livestock can be eliminated by harvesting the methane from the manure for energy, which a utility company has begun to do with one producer, the answer would be false. Manure accounts for only 15% of the methane released by the meat and dairy industries, and we are far from burning even that. The remaining 85% of the methane from meat and dairy industries actually comes from the front end of the cow with breath, as a result of the digestive process. This is good to know if the debate comes up. Best, Jon

Guest guest
Noam used to (or still does?) work at PETA, right? laurenJon Bridges <jonconnect wrote: Physicist Noam Mohr told me this. He said that 85% of the methane is released as gas from the mouth or anus, but mostly from the mouth. In other words, you just can't trap those by processing manure.
